Jomsom Muktinath Trek takes you to the holy land of Muktinath through the apple orchard of Marpha. The team of Ganga Jamuna Treks will set on a journey to take you to worship and hike to the sacred land of Muktinath.

Started with a sightseeing day in Kathmandu, Jomsom Muktinath Trek takes you through the scenic places of the country. On the first day, we will be exploring the world heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley with an experienced guide. On the second day, we will drive to Pokhara and then trek to Tikedhunga. The real trek starts with the start of day third. We will trek through the villages of Ghorepani, Tatopani, Ghasa, Marpha, Jomsom and Kagbeni to arrive at the holy land of Muktinath. Along the trek, we will be able to witness amazing panoramic views of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri massif. We will also be able to enjoy the local apple brandy of Marpha and the Tibetan influenced culture and tradition of Nepali people.

The Jomsom Muktinath Trek takes 13 days for completion based on our default itinerary. The trip can be tailored as you your preference. The best time to visit the holy land of Muktinath is between September-December.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu (TIA) 1350m. Overnight at hotelOne of our representatives will pick you up at the airport and guide you to your hotel room. There, you can freshen up and explore the surroundings. In the evening, you will be having a typical Nepali food with a brief about the trek. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02Sightseeing in Kathmandu and trip preparation. Overnight at hotelWe will visit the world heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley today. We will explore the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath and the Pashupatinath with an experienced guide. Back to the hotel for final trip preparation and an overnight stay.

Day 03Kathmandu to Pokhara to Tikhedhunga. Overnight at tea houseAfter breakfast, we will drive to the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. We will get through the high hills with beautiful panoramic views of the western Himalayas. From Pokhara, we will start our trek to Tikhedhunga. We will walk along the Modi Khola to arrive at Birenthanti and then to the village of Sudame. After Sudame, its’ an easy trek to Tikhedhunga. Overnight at tea house.

Day 04Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. Overnight at tea houseA steep climb up through the stone steps will take us to the village of Ulleri. After a few hours walk from Ulleri, we will arrive at the village of Ghorepani. The village offers us great views of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri Mountain Ranges. We will also be able to view the Tukuche, Dhampus, Nilgiri and the Machhapuchhre from here. Overnight at Ghorepani.

Day 05Ghorepani to Tatopani. Overnight at tea houseWe will wake up early and trek to the famous viewpoint of Poonhill to enjoy panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massif. We will also have a full picturesque view of the Pokhara valley. We will get back down to Ghorepani for breakfast and then, we will start our trek to arrive at the village of Tatopani. We will descend on easy slope at the beginning and sometimes after, we will be descending on a steeper path. We will arrive at Tatopani after crossing the Ghar Khola. Enjoy the hot springs of the village. Overnight at teas house.

Day 06Tatopani to Ghasa. Overnight at tea houseWe will be walking on the dusty road today. We will follow the river to cross it on a long suspension bridge and climb up along the river to arrive at Rupche Chahara waterfall. There, we will have our lunch. After lunch, we will again hike on the dusty and narrow road until we arrive at Ghasa. Along the way, we will be able to see the Kaligandaki gorge, the deepest gorge of the world. Overnight at tea house.

Day 07Ghasa to Marpha. Overnight at tea houseToday, we will be walking along the Kaligandaki River. We will cross several suspension bridges and hike up to arrive at the village of Marpha. This village offers us great insight on the Tibetan influenced Nepali culture and traditions. Marpha is also famous for its apple brandy. Overnight at Marpha

Day 08Marpha to Kagbeni. Overnight at tea houseAgain, we walk along the banks of the Kaligandaki River. We will walk uphill to get to Jomsom. From here, we will climb uphill again until we pass the Eklebhatti village to arrive at the village of Kagbeni. Along the way, we will be able to have panoramic views of the Nilgiri, Anapurna, Machhapuchhre and Tukuche Mountains. Overnight at tea house.

Day 09Kagbeni to Muktinath. Overnight at tea houseToday, we will walk along the Thong River and cross the villages of Klingar and Jharkot to arrove at the holy land of Muktinath. We will walk uphill upto Klingar. From there, we will have a flat walk to Jharkot and again a climb to Muktinath. The place is a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The place has 108 water spouts, Mukti Kunda and the Jwala Mai Temple. The place also contains the Mhame Lha Khang Gompa. Overnight at Muktinath.

Day 10Muktinath to Jomsom. Overnight at tea houseWe will descent steeply downhill to Eklibhatti and from there, we will descent down on a pleasant path to arrive at Kagbeni before getting to Jomsom. The walk will be tiresome with hard-blown winds and over-heating sun. Overnight at tea house.

Day 11Jomsom to Pokhara. Overnight at hotelEarly in the morning, we will visit the Dhumba Lake and then, we will get back to Jomsom for breakfast. From there, we will drive to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel.

Day 12Pokhara to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotelA little sightseeing in the lake city before a long drive to the capital city of Kathmandu. We will enjoy the beauty of Phewa Lake and the large mountains of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre before our drive. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13Final DepartureOne of our representatives will take you to the international airport for your departure
