Kerung-Lhasa Tour with EBC takes you to the historical capital of Tibet through the newly opened Nepal-Tibet border of Kerung with the added feature of having a trek to the northern base camp of Mt. Everest. The team of Touch Kailash will help you explore the land of Gods, Lhasa.

Opened in September, the new border of Rasuwagadhi-Kerung, is the alternative route to Tibet. Start the Kerung-Lhasa Tour with EBC from the outskirts of Katmandu. We will get to the Tibet through the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border and then travel through the Tibetan villages of Old Tingri and Ronbu to get to the foothill of the highest peak of the world. Hit the road again to get to Shigatse and finally to Lhasa. The trip takes you to the historical sacred city of Lhasa. Along the way, we will be able to experience the typical Tibetan culture, tradition, art and architecture. We will be able to have landscape views of the Everest and Cho Oyu peaks. Potala palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery and the Ronbu Monastery can be termed as the major attractions of this trip.

The Kerung-Lhasa Tour with EBC takes a total of 10 days to complete based on our default itinerary and can also be tailored as per your preference. The best time to visit the land of sunshine is between April to October.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotelUpon your arrival, one of our representatives will pick you up at the international airport and guide you to your hotel room. You could visit the Garden of Dreams at Thamel or just doze off once you freshen up and have lunch. In the evening, you will have a taste of the typical Nepali cuisine. There, you will get a brief about the trip and then, you can start your preparations. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02Drive from Kathmandu to Kerung. Overnight at tea houseAfter breakfast, we will drive through the crowded Kathmandu Valley on windy and bumpy roads to get to the village of Syaprubesi. First, we will arrive at the village of Galchhi and then through Betrawati and Dhunche, we will get to Syaprubesi. A couple of hours from here will take us to Rasuwagadhi. We will reach Kerung once we cross the border over the friendship bridge. Overnight at Kerung.

Day 03Kerung to Old Tingri (6-7 hrs). Overnight at tea houseDrive through the friendship highway to get to the village of Old Tingri. We will first arrive at the village of Paiku Co and then through the village of Nyalam along the Pum Qu river to arrive at Old Tingri. Stop at the Paiku Co village to enjoy the Paiku Co Lake and at Nianggagu village to enjoy the Langqiang Co Lake. The view of the north side of Mt. Cho Oyu from Tingri is absolutely inredible. Overnight at tea house.

Day 04Old Tingri to Ronbu (2-3 hrs) to EBC and back. Overnight at tea houseStart our drive to get to the village of Rongbu through the country road at the beginning and then head east on the National Road through Zhufeng to arrive at Rongbu. Rongbu is considered as the gateway to Mt. Everest as it lies below the northern base camp of Mt. Everest. Hike up along the dry and barren Rongbu Glacier to get to the Rongbu Monastery, the highest monastery of the world. A little above is where the Everest Base Camp is. Enjoy the desolate land of the base camp with panoramic view of the northern side of the highest snow-capped peak of Mt. Everest. Get back to the village of rongbu for overnight stay.

Day 05Ronbuk to Shigatse (6-7 hrs). Overnight at tea houseDrive back to the village of Old Tingri and head north along the Jiacuoxiang road. Turn right at the Chawuxiang intersection and through the Chexixuang village to arrive at our destination of Xigaze/Shigatse. Shigatse is the second biggest city of Tibet. Visit the Tashilunpho Monastery before ending the day. Overnight at tea house.

Day 06Shigatse to Lhasa (5-6 hrs). Overnight at tea houseAfter breakfast, we will drive through the Samzhubze village on the Rinbung Road to get to the capital of Tibet, Lhasa. Lhasa is the biggest city of the country. Along the way, we will pass the village of Gyantse. Also called the Land of the Gods, Lhasa has many historical sites and architecture for us to explore. Overnight at tea house.

Day 07Lhasha Full Day Sightseeing. Overnight at tea houseExplore the holy land of sunshine through the Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace and the Drepung Monastery. We will first visit the Potala Palace, a UNESCO listed site and the residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th one. The palace holds a great ensemble to the history of Tibet. Then, we will visit the Norbulingka Palace, built by the 7th Dalai Lama which is also one of the UNESCO listed site of Tibet. Finally, a visit to the largest Tibetan monastery of Drepung will end the day for us.

Day 08Lhasha Full Day Sightseeing. Overnight at tea houseStart with a trip to the Jokhang Temple, the most sacred temple of Tibet. The UNESCO listed temple established on the 7th century has Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian architectural design. Visit the Sera Monastery next. It is one of the three great Gelug University Monasteries of Tibet. We will roam around the Barkhor Street, also known as the Holy Road, until the day ends. Back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 09Fly back to Kathmandu (1.30hrs). Overnight at hotelWe will fly back to the capital city of Nepal after breakfast and check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 10Final DepartureOur representative will guide you to the Tribhuvan International Airport and bid you adieu.
