Nar Phu Valley is one of the restricted areas trekking of Nepal. It is a newly opened trekking route of the country which brings us closer to the off the beaten roads of the country. The team of the Gangajamuna Treks will take you on an adventurous journey in the Nar Phu Vallley to explore the restricted region of the unexplored and hidden valleys of Nar and Phu.

The trek to the hidden valley of Nar and Phu starts with a one day scenic sightseeing tour of the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley. We will visit Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath and the Kathmandu Durbar Square. After that, we will be driving to the village of Chamje in the mid-western region. Then, we will trek up and down the villages of Dharapani, Koto, Meta and then the hidden valleys of Phu and Nar. The major attractions of this trek include the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and several other unnamed peaks. We will also be able to explore the cultural diversity of the people around this area.

Nar Phu Valley can be made longer or shorter according to your timeline. If you want no changes in our default package, the trek can be completed within 15 days. The fitness level needed for this trek is fairly fit as the trekking in this region is fairly strenuous.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu (TIA) (1350m). Overnight at hotelOur representative will pick you up at the airport and escort you to you hotel room. You will have time to freshen up and explore the surroundings during the afternoon. In the evening, you will be having a typical Nepali food in a small dinner held by the company. There, you will be briefed about the trek. Overnight at hotel.

Day 01Sightseeing in Kathmandu and trip preparation. Overnight at hotelAfter having a hearty breakfast, we will visit the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley. We will explore the Swoyambhunath, Pashupatinath and the Bouddhanath temples. We will also explore the Kathmandu Durbar Square, one of the royal palaces of the Kathmandu Valley. We will get back to the hotel and start our preparation for the trip.

Day 03Drive from Kathmandu to Chamje via Besisahar (7-8 hours). Overnight at tea houseToday, we will drive from the capital city of Kathmandu in a 4wd jeep to get to the village of Chamje. Chamje is a small settlement with several lodges and a natural hot spring. The village also has a huge waterfall. We will be getting through the village of Naubise, Mugling and Besisahar, the district headquarters of Lamjung. We will stop at Besisahar for lunch and again, hit the road until Chamje. Overnight at tea house.

Day 04Chamje to Dharapani (6-7 hours). Overnight at tea houseWe will climb up on a steep path to get inside the Manang District. We will continuously climb up a steep narrow path to climb up a ridge along the river to arrive at a flat ground. After lunch, we will hike up on the same narrow path to cross a river before arriving at the village of Dharapani. Overnight at tea house.

Day 05Dharapani to Koto (5-6 hours). Overnight at tea houseWe will hike up on a narrow steep path to get to the village of Danak. From there, we will climb out of the village to get to the picturesque village of Timang. We will ascend through a muddy path to arrive at the village of Koto. Overnight at tea house.

Day 06Koto to Meta (7-8 hours). Overnight at tea houseWe will follow the Soti Khola today. We will walk up through the pine forest to get to the village of Dharamsala. Along the way, we will be able to see the Annapurna massif and the Lamjung Mountains. We will now follow the upward route through the lush pine forest to get to the village of Meta for an overnight stay.

Day 07Meta to Phu Valley (7-8 hours). Overnight at tea houseUp and up through the villages to arrive at the village of Kyang. The village has rubble of Tibetan houses all around it. After lunch at this village, we will hike up along the chortens and Mani walls to arrive at the village of restricted valley of Phu. Overnight at tea house.

Day 08Exploration Day. Overnight at tea houseToday, we will stroll around the valley. We will be able to see the mixed cultural diversity of the people living in this area. The village offers great views of the Annapurna, Himling and the Manasulu Mountain. We will also visit the Tashi Lakhang monastery which is believed to be one of the greatest Buddhist monasteries of the world. Overnight at tea house.

Day 09Phu Valley to Nar Village (6-7 hours). Overnight at tea houseWe will get out of the village of Phu and descend down over streams and bridges to get to Mahendra Pul. From there, we will climb up steeply to arrive at the village of Nar. Nar is the largest village of the region. The village offers great landscape views of the Annapurna, Pisang, Manaslu and other unnamed peaks. Overnight at tea house

Day 10Exploration Day. OVerngiht at tea houseWe will explore the Phu village today. We will view the monasteries and the Mani walls around the village. If we are lucky, then we might be able to see the almost extinct vulure, Lammergeyer. Overnight at tea house.

Day 11Nar Village to Ngawal via Kang La Pass (7-8 hours). Overnight at tea houseWe will walk past yak pastures to climb up the pass of Kang La Phedi. From there, we will ascent to get to the Kang La Pass. Kang La Pass lies at 5400 meters. From there, we will be able to enjoy the panoramic views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and other unnamed peaks. We will descend in a steep path to get to the village of Ngawal. Overnight at tea house.

Day 12Ngawal to Chame (6-7 hours). Overnight at tea houseWalk some 6-7 hours to through the Manang Sadak to arrive at the village of Chame. Overnight at tea house.

Day 13Chame to Chamje (6-7 hours). Overnight at tea houseWe will follow the same route to get back to the village of Dharapani. From there, we will again follow the road to get to the village of Chamje. Overnight at tea house.

Day 14Drive from Chamje to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotelToday, we will drive through the villages of Besisahar, Naubise and Mugling to get back to the capital city of Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 15Final DepartureOne of our representatives will guide you to the international airport of Nepal and bid you adieu.
