From Nagarkot, we will get on a bumpy track to arrive at another religious site of Palanchowk Bhagawati and then to Dhulikhel. Day 02Prep-meeting and ride to Kakani (2030m / 20km). Overnight at guest houseAn early trip preparation meeting at the hotel. There, you will meet your leader and get the tour briefing from him. We will prepare our bags and then start off with a ride to Kakani. We will start our journey through the crowded streets of the market of Thamel to get on to the Ringroad and immediately change tracks to the Trishuli Highway. Mostly we will bike uphill in a paved road to reach Kakani. Along the windy roads of the Trishuli highway, we will stop at a trout farm to taste the deliciously sweet trout fish farmed locally. We will be able to set our eyes on the high snow-capped peaks of Ganesh and Langtang Lirung above the valley and rhododendron and oak forest below it. In Kakani, there are memorial parks for the International Mountaineers and Airways that can be seen from the park on a clear day. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03Kakani to Budhanilkantha (1371m / 27km). Overnight at hotelDown through the tracks of the valley along the Trishuli Highway will take us to the Ringorad. Take left and ride until we arrive at Chakrapath. Again another left through the Dhapasi marg with Golfutar Main Road in sight. Budhanilkhantha is a famous place for its temple known as the Narayanthan Temple. The temple is worshipped by the followers of Lord Bishnu and is made from the single block stone of black basalt. The statue is 13 meters long and is half- submerged in the pool of water. Along the way, we will be able to see the peaks of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04Budhanilkantha to Nagarkot (2195 m/ 32.5km). Overnight at hotelLeft from the Khadka Bhadraklali Marg all the way up to Jorpati and get to the holy place of Boudhanath just to get a clearer view of the Kathmandu Valley. Through the Gokarneshwor above the Bagmati River all the way to the Mulpani Cricket Ground and further up to arrive at Sankhu to stop for lunch. From there, we will follow the black-topped road all the way to the village of Nagarkot. Nagarkot is one of the high viewpoints of Nepal. The views of the mountain ranges from the top of the hill-station are worth the ride. Even the Everest can be seen from the top. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05Rest dayGet up to the sun shining just above the snow-capped peaks. Explore the biking trails around Nagarkot or we can just take the day off to enjoy the sexy atmosphere of the region. We will make time to visit the temple of Changu Narayan, thought of as the oldest temple in the history of Nepal. The temple has ancient Newari arts and architectures denoting the lifestyle of the bygone locals. We can also get magnificent views of the surrounding hills from the temple. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06Nagarkot to Palanchowk (1007m / 53km). Overnight at guest houseStart off with a ride through the Melamchi-Helambu Road until we arrive at Melamchi for lunch and get on the Araniko highway to turn left onto the Palanchowk Road. The place is famous for its 3 feet long idol of Goddess Bhagawati in the temple of Palanchowk Bhagwati. Panchkhal is extremely famous for its potatoes. We may want to try some. From the temple, we will be able to see amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight at guest house.
Day 07Palanchowk to Dhulikhel (1550m / 26km). Overnight at hotelThrough the beaten tracks to join the main road. Off road track is a little harder than it looks. We will descend down from the track and continue on an uphill track for an hour or so to arrive at the town of Dhulikhel. We will have lunch and explore the place. This place offers some great views of the snow-capped mountains and green lush hills covering the valley. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08Dhulikhel to Balthali. Overnight at hotelOn a paved flat surface, we will ride towards the historical city of Panauti before arriving at our destination of Balthali. The traditional village offers ancient arts and architectures in the form of the temples and houses. Leaving all the pollution behind, we will enjoy the green hills and farms of the village of Balthali. The village offers us green views as far as the eyes take us with snow-capped peaks towering above the hills. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09Balthali to Surya Binayak via Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Overnight at guest houseAgain on a paved path, we will descend down from the hills through Panauti and get ourselves to one of the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Nepal, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. It is one of the royal palaces made during the reign of the Malla and Shah Kings. Attractions of this place includes 55 window palace, Batsala Temple, Statue of Bhupatindra Malla, Nyatapole Temple, Golden Gate and Siddha Pokhari just outside the square. We will head to the village of Surya Vinayak in the evening after trying the mouth-watering “juju-dhau”, a sweet yogurt made locally in the houses of Bhaktapur. Overnight at guest house.
Day 10Surya Binayak to Godavari (1579m / 19km). Overnight at hotelTime to leave Bhaktapur behind and head on towards Godavari on paved roads with green fields along the way. Godavari is famous for its views of the green landscapes surrounding the valley. There is a Botanical Garden which grows a wide range of native plants in its gardens and is deemed important in various scientific researches. Nearest to the village is the highest point of the Kathmandu Valley, Phulchowki Hill. It offers great refreshment and magical views of the Kathmandu Valley. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11Godavari to Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu. Overnight at hotelIn the off road tracks, we will explore the hard trail of the Kathmandu Valley and join the path to arrive at the Patan Durbar Square, the third of the royal palaces made during the reign of the Malla and Shah Kings. Pagoda temples and artistic buildings cover the premises of the square. It shows the religious and social life of the local people during the time of the Malla and Shah Kings. Major attraction of this trek is the holy temple of Lord Krishna made entirely of stone. Return to the crowded market of Thamel on tarmac road for an overnight stay.
Day 12Sightseeing in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotelAfter breakfast, we will be visiting some of the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley in a private vehicle. First, we will visit the Stupa of Boudhanath, the biggest Buddhist shrine of the country. We will visit the monasteries surrounding the stupa and make our way to the holiest temple of Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath. Swoyambhunath will be our next destination. The temple contains several shrines and monasteries. The top of the temple offers wide view of the Kathmandu valley. Overnight at hotel.
